13 Nov Custom House Progress
Amazing imagery sent today from our Project Manager Jon Wride at Custom House. All SFS is up until the 13th floor and the refurbishment movements onsite are moving at an amazing rate.
The redevelopment of Custom House in Cardiff to provide a 248-bed Premier Inn Hotel and Restaurant. Working with WRW Construction to deliver the facade package. Build-Therm’s package consists of SFS and steel support work, Kingspan K-Roc Karrier Panels with Kingspan Dri-Design Panels laid at a 59-degree pitch. Alongside this Build-Therm have been contracted to install the unique shaped windows and reveal pods. The orientation of the panels has created some challenges to the design particularly in respect of the interface with the window setting out. However, our design team have been working in conjunction with Kingspan to overcome the issues this presents to provide a fully bespoke facade envelope on this landmark development.
The site is situated within Cardiff city centre with limited space bounded by the electrified main Cardiff to London railway route to the South and busy bus lanes on the Northside of the development which within themselves pose particular logistic and Health & Safety issues which our site team are managing on a daily basis.
We can’t wait to see further movements on this unique refurbishment project.
