About this project
Courtyard by Marriot in Heathrow saw an introduction of a hotel to the nearby international airport. This former outdated office block has received extensive refurbishment including a large extension to the rear. This change of use saw this run-down commercial property, converted into a spectacular and modern 244-bedroom hotel, that will provide accommodation as well as a sky bar for travellers to the capital.
The building was stripped back to its basic structure with Build-Therm Services installing new lightweight steel framing systems to accommodate for the new openings and façade. The building envelope received new aluminium cladding formed into cassette and powder coated to a bronze metallic finish. This enabled the main areas to receive an anthracite grey finish to the upper levels and an insulated render finish to the internal courtyard elevations. An additional challenge we faced was the project was undertaken throughout lockdown. Although it was a tough time it did not affect the progress of the project.
Special Features
This huge transformation saw 3-stories added to the existing building. Build-Therm constructed and installed the new levels to the development which is something that can be particularly difficult due to access, however working with the main contractor we were able to deliver without any delay.
