About this project
The IBIS in Hounslow is a 125-room hotel that used a mixture of traditional bricks (provided by another business) and brick slips for the external facades. The creation of the brick features shown within the images was made possible through modern construction methods.
In addition to the brickwork, we supplied through fix aluminium cladding to the upper levels of the building. This allowed for a more refined and finished look at the project. This project has become a signature within our portfolio as it demonstrates how working with our supply chain, we are able to adapt our approach to achieving the rhythm of brickwork that the architect required.
This project showcases the ability of a brick slips system to create architectural detailing and features whilst matching the brick slips with the traditional brickwork selected for the project.
Build-Therm Services worked with our supplier to use a hand brackets support system to create the required offset from the flush concrete substrate. This enabled the brick slips for the external facades to be panelised to suit the required shapes of the piers. By our in-house design and pre-construction team identifying this in the early stages we were able to find a solution that met the criteria of all involved.
