About this project
Ibis Hotel in Romford will be the newest addition to the high street which is a part of Havering’s emerging local plan to support development within the town centre. Working alongside long-running clients RGB Group we delivered a new 8-storey hotel which will facilitate 128 rooms.
This is one of our first projects providing the full loadbearing structure for the project which has given the architects more flexibility throughout the duration of the build as well as a fast-track solution, that is much needed within the Romford area.
Working with a mixed system approach our in-house designers worked with our supply chain and client to achieve the required finish. The front facade of the original building has been retained, covering 5 storeys of the project. The addition of render as the EWI system ensures a weather-resistant facade to the loadbearing SFS. The further 3 storeys have seen the use of a concealed fixed rainscreen cladding system bringing a modern juxtaposing aesthetic to the build.
Special Features
The architects as well as our designers have worked to retain the art deco front façade successfully from the existing building. We adapted our approach early on, during works to enable this. Throughout the programme of installation, the commercial units on lower floors remained open without disturbance, which Build Therm took into consideration when making key decisions.
