About this project
Finzel Reach hotel saw the creation of a new build, 168-bedroom hotel situated in the centre of Bristol to provide accommodation for the popular UK city. The construction accommodated contemporary EWI methods including light-weight steel framing infill to support the openings and a new external wall insulation system with an acrylic brick slip or render finish.
The design provides feature pillars around the large openings with acrylic brick slips adjacent to the openings to offer contrasting colour and texture to the white render. Using SPS Envirowall flexible brick slip system allowed the development to be delivered on time by using a modern solution to its traditional counterpart. The requirement for a traditional aesthetic was desired to work alongside the surrounding historic buildings.
Due to the location of the project, we had to work within the confinements of restricted storage space. By using modern alternatives for the external façade reduced not only the deliveries required but also the space required onsite throughout the duration of the build.
Special Features
The construction of the build led us to be very traditional in our approach. We were able to achieve the required U value by using a modern EWI solution. Finzel Reach Bristol Hotel was one of the first additions to a larger development, so it certainly set a standard for the coming buildings.
